Ready For The Rain

These Yankee fans decide to wait out a rain delay in their usual seats for the game.   The security guard makes sure the fans are not disturbed ... or maybe he's looking for a dry spot.

Soccer in the Bronx

Early in the first half of the soccer match between Chelsea (in red) and Paris Saint-Germain, PSG goalie Nicolas Douchez leaps high in front of the cage to deny a shot by the English club.  The meeting between the two teams ended in a 1-1 tie in front of 38,202 fans at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York.

Dining Out on Atlantic Avenue

Here is the MOB Deluxe Burger from the MOB Restaurant in Brooklyn, NY.  It's meatless with the patty being crimini mushroom.

The Mob Restaurant in Brooklyn is contained in a large room with long dining tables.  This candle arraignment sits in the middle of each table.

This is a glass of beet wine with a big bottle of water at hand.  I wanted to include the red hat in the composition of the picture to add some balance.

Here are the candles being lit.

The Picture Tells The Story

Our summer thunderstorm season continued with a big downpour to put the breaks on the fourth official heat wave here in New York. It's not a "Heat wave" - by the book - unless it's at least 90 degrees three days in a row. After being feeling like it was 100 degrees the last few days, it's only going to be in the mid-70's today. We'll take it! Click on the pic for alarger version.

Mister Buddy Guy!

THE GREAT BLUES guitar man Buddy Guy has a new book on the shelves recounting his nearly 76 years on this earth. Most of that time has been spent with an axe in his hands. He's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
BUDDY PERFORMED in New York at the outdoor stage of the World Financial Center - next to the Hudson River - with a lot of energy and style. I tried to capture those traits in this photo. His long fingers raced up and down the fretboard with amazing speed.
BUDDY LOOK'S like he could have been posing for this shot in the 1950's when he started performing. I wanted to convey a sense of his music being timeless and black and white helps with that sentiment.
BUDDY GUY'S large hands have played millions of notes down through the years. But each note - it seems - has expressed deep feelings from a man who has been around the world playing the blues since the early 1950's.

4th of July 2012

The famous Macy's fireworks show was staged again on the Hudson River and I took a position on the Brooklyn Bridge - looking northwest - as I wanted to include some NY buildings in the foreground.
Here's a similar shot with the fireworks being framed by the vertical support cables of the Brooklyn Bridge.
The Empire State Building - decked out in red, white and blue floodlights - is somewhat shrouded by the smoke from the fireworks in the aftermath of the giant Macy's show.
